Privacy Policy

Plot ("we", "our", "the app") is a dating and social discovery platform. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: Email address, name, age, gender, dating preferences, location, college, and profile bio.

Profile media: Photos (up to 3) and video (up to 1) that you upload to your profile.

Location data: GPS coordinates (rounded to ~1.1km for privacy) used to show dates near you and power map discovery. Location is requested only with your permission.

Usage data: Date ideas you post, applications you send, likes, and in-app interactions.

Messages: Chat messages between matched users. Messages are end-to-end encrypted using Curve25519 key exchange and AES-256-GCM encryption. We cannot read your messages.

Device information: Push notification tokens for delivering notifications.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and maintain your account and profile
• To show you relevant date ideas near your location
• To facilitate matching between users who post and apply to dates
• To enable messaging between matched users
• To power the AI assistant (Cupid) for date planning suggestions
• To send push notifications about matches, messages, and date reminders
• To enforce community safety (reports, blocks, respect scoring)

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate the app:

• Supabase: database, authentication, and file storage (hosted in the US)
• Groq: AI processing for the Cupid assistant
• Google Places API: restaurant and venue search for date planning
• OpenWeatherMap: weather information for date locations
• Brave Search: web search for activity suggestions
• Apple StoreKit: subscription payment processing

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

4. End-to-End Encryption

All chat messages between matched users are encrypted end-to-end. Your private encryption key is stored only on your device (in the iOS Keychain) and is never transmitted to our servers. We cannot read your messages.

5. Location Privacy

Your GPS coordinates are rounded to approximately 1.1km precision before being stored. Date locations shown on the map are fuzzed by ~100 meters to protect exact addresses. Distance to dates is displayed in approximate buckets ("Nearby", "< 1 mi", etc.).

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings within the app. When you delete your account, all your profile data, posts, applications, and messages are permanently removed.

7. Your Rights

• Access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time via the app
• Delete your account entirely from Settings
• Revoke location permissions via iOS Settings
• Disable push notifications via iOS Settings

8. Children's Privacy

Plot is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. The app enforces a minimum age of 18 during account creation.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the date at the top of this page.
